Food To Die For – Apple & Cinnamon Proats

Nutrition / food to die for

Breakfast really is one of the most important meals of the day…kickstarting your metabolism, and provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast. Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty, a bit like trying to drive your car without any petrol.
Breakfast foods provide a good source of calcium, iron, vitamin B, as well as protein and fibre. Oats are also filling and provide you with slow release energy.
This Apple Cinnamon Proats recipe will not only leave your kitchen smelling like apple pie, it is the perfect partner to go with a nice cup of coffee.
Prep time: 5-10 mins
Cooking time: 5 mins
Serves: 2
120g rolled oats (Mornflakes superfast oats perfect and cook quicker!)
50ml unsweetened almond milk
50ml water
1/2 medium sized apple, diced (red gala works well with this recipe)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
In a small saucepan, boil the water. Add the oats and turn the heat down to a medium simmer. Cook the oats for 4-5 minutes until the water has absorbed into the oats.
Heat another small pan and add the diced apples along with the brown sugar until the apples are soft and caramelised.
Add the apple to the mixture, then stir in the whey protein, cinnamon and almond milk.
Top with chopped pecans, a spoonful of granola, or just a little extra sprinkle of cinnamon.
