Dark chocolate avocado mousse has a not so secret ingredient, the avocado….which makes it thick, velvety, creamy, and full of flavour. It is also crammed full of healthy fats, fibre and nutrients in comparison to other mousse recipes. Oh and one more thing….it is delicious and will leave you craving more!
Avocados occasionally get bad press due to their high fat content, but DO NOT FEAR FATS, especially good fats. Avocados are great for regulating blood sugars and are considered heart healthy, they also contain high amounts of anti-inflammatory nutrients, antioxidants, plus lots of vitamins and minerals which help keep your hair, skins and nails healthy.
Prep time: 10-15 mins
- 2 large avocados (or 3 small ones)
- 50ml unsweetened almond milk
- 50g dark chocolate (70-85% cacao content)
- 2 tablespoons of raw organic cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of coffee
fresh berries or shredded coconut to garnish
Melt the dark chocolate over boiling water (bain marie)
Combine the melted chocolate with the remaining ingredients in a blender or a bowl and mix until thick and creamy. The texture should resemble a fluffy mousse.
Spoon the mixed ingredients into a bowl or glass tumbler and garnish with the topping of your choice.
